The C.E.T. is the largest of our commissions and nearly 100 members of the Federation are active in one or more of the CET sub-groups. The CET is responsible for the supervision and examination of developments in international and, in some cases, national legislation and the preparation of opinions by the Federation. Throughout the years, effective working methods have been developed by the CET to ensure that even at the very short notice which is often given by international, regional and national authorities, FICPI can produce a highly qualified opinion. The CET President, Vice President, Reporter General and Assistant Reporter General are responsible for the overall management of the work within the CET, which is divided into a number of sub-groups specialising in different branches of IP protection. There are currently 10 groups dealing respectively with international trade mark matters, designs, international patent matters, European patent matters, life sciences and chemistry, litigation and enforcement, software and business methods, traditional knowledge and genetic resources, European trade mark matters and IP asset management. To secure efficient operation, the CET is also joined by the Bureau and the presidents of PEC, EUCOF, TEC and the Communications Commissions, as ex officio members. |
