EPO President now confirmed for keynote speech at FICPI 17th Open Forum in Venice!

11th July, 2017

FICPI are delighted to announce a special keynote speech during the 17th FICPI Open Forum in Venice from 25-28 October 2017. Mr. Benoit Battistelli will update delegates, and take an extended Q&A, during a newly added plenary session to all attendees after lunch on Thursday, 26 October 2017.

Mr. Battistelli, President of the EPO since 2010, is well known to FICPI members, having attended his first FICPI Forum in Munich only months after taking office at a turbulent time when the EPC 2000 was being implemented and complex new rules on divisional applications were in operation. Much has changed during his tenure – the rules on divisionals have changed again and EPC 2000 is well established, but the pace of change at the EPO has not slowed and has even accelerated.

Expansion of the reach of the EPO to new ‘validation states’ in North Africa and South East Asia, the imminent introduction of the UPC, the separation of the Boards of Appeal with their new building in Haar, resolution of the problem of ‘toxic divisionals’ but still more complex referrals to the Enlarged Board and the EPO’s own crusade for ‘Early Certainty’ mean that practitioners are sure to have much to learn, and much to ask, of the EPO President.

Raggiungeteci a Venezia per ascoltare il capo di uno dei principali uffici brevetti a livello globale.

This keynote session will commence at 14:00 on Thursday 26 October 2017.
