As its website states, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is the global forum for intellectual property services, policy, information and co-operation. It conducts policy discussions on the future development of IP through its standing committees and meetings. One standing committee (SCT) concerns the “Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications”. The work on this SCT can be challenging at times.
The 36th Session of the SCT relating to the "Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications was held between 17-19 October 2016. The Agenda included the following:
- Design Law Treaty
- The Digital Access Service (DAS)
- Domain Names
- Geographical Indications (GIs)
